The Spring Candle Mat Applique pattern is for you to sew entirely by hand - no sewing machine required.

The candle mat is designed as a table decoration to hold a decorative candle in the middle - a flameless candle is ideal. Alternatively, place a small vase or figurine in the center instead.

The finished applique design measures approximately 11.5 x 11.5 inches.

How to do felt, wool or cotton applique

This entire pattern can be made using a basic running or backstitch stitch if that is all you know.

My finished sample uses: backstitch and blanket stitch

This is an ideal project for an intermediate to advanced hand stitcher. Beginners can also make this design by using a few basic stitches and by leaving out the smallest design parts to make it easier.

The PDF pattern supplies photos and written notes on how I assembled the applique design, what number of threads I used for each piece and stitches used.
